So I'm years late on joining the mailable dvd/blu-ray cause, but I'm here...for now. The struggle with committing has everything to do with my experiences with video rental stores like Blockbuster. Can't stand their model, though I'm sure in the past it was profitable...for them! So I'm giving Netflix a chance for two reasons. One, I just got a Playstation 3 and want to watch some blu-ray movies. Two, I own a Xbox 360 and that system offers streaming movies via Netflix. The 14-day trail period started last night.
I'm prepared to hit cancel already. I tried streaming a couple of movies last night and while the setup is great, the performance was lacking. Sometimes I would have to load the movie 3-4 times (takes like 30 seconds, so not really a huge deal) to get optimal video quality. The point is, it should work great the first time! Now, I know people will say, it's you're internet connection speed. Whatever!
For the next 14, or 13 days, I'll run Netflix through its paces and hope to later post that it's the greatest service known to man. I have my doubts though. A couple of people have already told me that the service begins great, but then falters with slower delivery times, etc. Add that to the fact that they apparently just raised their price on the blu-ray feature and a guy begins to wonder (see post below).
Good luck to you Netflix...I hope you don't get Blockbustered!
