Yes this is real! It was a Nike exhibition game in 1986. This is for you youngsters that doubt and think Kobe, Lebron or any other player is better than Mike.
Sometimes I dream...that he is me....
Chris Paul tore through the NBA last year (look up the stats) and the New Orleans Hornets are making sure CP3 doesn't pull a Baron Davis anytime soon. Four years, $68,000,000.00!
Read more about it below.
Happy 4th of July!!

Six years of work, and yes playing ball at that level is a lot of work, for $111,000,000.00 isn't bad. That is a whole lotta money folks. Before you start throwing stones, just remember the guy who signs the checks makes even more or he wouldn't pay that kind of salary. Big money in the world of sports.
I just hope Gilbert can still play at a high level after the surgeries. A year ago Agent 0 could play some BALL!
Read more about it below. Peace!

Kobe needs to go home and watch some Mike Jordan videos. No doubt he's gotten the short end of the stick thus far, but MJ would have done his thing regardless. I'm looking for Kobe to jump out of his mini-slump in a big way in LA, but kicking back and watching Jordan wouldn't hurt either:-)
Sometimes I dream....
So Game 2 of the NBA Finals just wrapped up and we were back at doing
push-ups for points. Here is the rundown of how many everyone did.
Well, almost everyone:-) Gajda opted for a different outcome (see
pic):-)
Bob (Kobe): 150, Brock (Pierce): 140, Me (KG): 85, Charissa (Ray
Allen): 85, Angela: 30, Karol (Perkins): DNF
Next game Tuesday. Might pick names out of a hat/bowl this time:-)
and the journey continues....
Below is a link to a writer that fueled my enthusiasm for becoming a better writer as the sun rose in my 20's. I don't write all that much anymore...at least I don't really count this as really writing. Reading this article reminded me why I enjoy Rick's work and perhaps inspired me once again to pepper the keyboard. We'll see.
Enjoy the article. It's Rick's first with ESPN.
Peace!

I'm ready for June 5th!! Could be fun:-)
Today we pushed the start button on Saturday Football again. After
about a two month hiatus, it was a little rough out there, but a lot
of fun. We then hit up Chef's Table for a little post football lunch
(Bro's Bday).
Now I've got to rest my lobster red head and hope this medicine takes
away my headache:-)
Peace!
Get your kleenex ready.
Within a 150 feet of stepping off the plane in Maui, I saw Greg Oden (this past year's #1 pick in the NBA Draft/Portland Trailblazers) over on the side. He had just ordered some food. We walked by and then went back and Greg was nice enough to take a picture with Charissa. Why no picture for me? Well, I didn't ask. Greg shook my hand and I wished him good luck this coming season. Nice guy. Cool picture too:-)
The Dolphins are about to make a guy's dreams come true. You know he's not expecting it though. An OT has never been the #1 pick in life. He probably went from HS to college with little attention and I've never heard of him. Now he's gonna go #1 in the NFL draft. Mind blowing, but good for him. Everyone should be #1 at least once.
? for ya though. Does it matter if you have a good line if your QB sucks more than a Dyson vacuum? Maybe a little harsh, maybe a result of season after season of lackluster results. Being a fan isn't really supposed to blow.
Peace!

It's time for Gilbert to come back and hit some game winners!!!
Are you or were you a big wrestling fan? If so, go take the WWF Superstars Quiz. I only got 8 of 14 right.
Link: WWF Superstars Quiz.
I've been following Gerald since his high flying high school days. Check out those numbers...plus he's a fun player to watch, especially in an All-Star game!
In case you missed it, or even forgot the guy is still playing, Shaq didn't make this year's NBA All-Star game. For the last 14 years the Center position has been a spot locked down by the "Big Fella." Not anymore, at least not this year.
Times are a changin. As I get older, so do the players that dominated when I was growing up. For example, Pat Ewing is an assistant in Orlando. Seems kinda weird to see Patrick over there when I go to a game. Times change though and so do the players that make up the All-Star game.
I still think Shaq has it though.
That's right, I really feel Shaquille O'Neal can dominate this league. His health has been an issue for the last few years now and not being healthy does make it difficult to dominate. The bigger question is whether or not he still has a passion to be the best. If he does and he can ever get healthy again, he will dominate the NBA one more time before he retires. Dominate it!
Passion and health are two big variables, but if they come together watch out! If you look around the league, he doesn't need to be as athletic as he used to be because his cometitors aren't as atheltic as he used to be.
Not making it could be the best thing ever for Shaq...at least for us the fans. See ya next year big fella.
Link: ESPN - Riley suggests Shaq should be given All-Star role; O'Neal disagrees - NBA.
I must say that last year the former NBA superstars (Mike Jordan) got it wrong when they held up their scores during the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Dwight Howard got robbed!!!
Apparently the NBA thinks so too. This year, for the first time ever, the fans will decide the winner of the Sprite Slam Dunk competition.
The jumpers are: Gerald Green, Rudy Gay, Jamario Moon, and Dwight Howard. D. Howard is taking it home this year...no doubt!
It is the question debated anytime there is a high profile player in the collegiate ranks. Should college players get compensation?
I say no when it comes to direct money given to the player. I would be in favor though of some indirect methods. Maybe a percentage is put away in a IRA. Maybe the athlete's family is able to attend the college for free.
Who knows what the right answer is, but when a player is bringing in close to $6,000,000 through the sale of their merchandise, they should get something.
What do you think?
Today while playing in the Christmas Bowl, I pulled (I think) my hamstring. I knew it right away. As I ran for the touchdown, I felt a pop, and I was down in pain. I did score the touchdown, but I wish I had just thrown it:-)
In the last three weeks I've been injured twice and this one looks like it could take awhile before it's better. Whenever it does get better, I'm changing my formula. I'm beyond the days of just going out and playing once a week. I need to keep the legs moving through the week as well.
OK, time to put some more ice on it.
I just want to give a quick shout out to Zappos.com for getting my cleats to me in one day. Yeah, I know it's called overnight shipping, but hey, I'm still impressed.
Thanks for the link Gajda.
Four weeks ago a group of us, mostly family, started playing football (two-hand touch) on Saturday mornings. Four weeks later, this Saturday, it's still going strong.
In the beginning, it was mostly tennis shoes running/sliding around on the dew covered field. Now, just a few weeks later, almost everyone will show up this week with cleats. Mine will hopefully be here Friday.
Two more days till game time:-)
So the big fight was last night between Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton. Mayweather ended it in dramatic fashion with a 10th round KO, ending the hope of anyone slowing the tongue of the trash talking Mayweather.
As a fan of boxing watching the fight, I would have seen the fight fairly close with Floyd slightly ahead when the KO occurred. The funny thing about boxing though is that it's left up to three judges and those judges basically had it being Mayweather shutout. If Ricky hadn't been knocked out, the only way he could have won according to the ringside judges would have been to knockout Mayweather.
Mayweather got another $20 million to add to his bank account, making it a cool $50,000,000 for his two fights this year. Not a bad year's production.
If a judge or group of judges were given $1 million each do you think they would adjust their scores in favor of the one giving the funds? I'm not implying that this fight was fixed, but boxing has issues and the three judge scoring system is part of it. It is flawed.
In every other sport there is a scoring system of some sort. Can the referee affect play? Of course, the NBA is dealing with that right now. In the end though, there is a score. If it's even, everyone knows it's even.
With boxing it can be pure emotion because if you like someone as a fighter you can see the results anyway you want. Maybe I just don't know enough about boxing. All I know is I have watched too many fights were the judges scored it one way and I and everyone in the arena had it going a different way.
Boxing needs to fix this flaw...in some way.

So the next BIG fight is only a few days away. On December 8th, Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton will square off and one will leave the ring with their first loss.
I've already got my $50 to the side to watch this one pay-per-view:-) Anyone wanna come watch?

I'm going to sound like the biggest hater in the entire World, but I'm thinking being Master P's son had something to do with Lil' Romeo getting a shot at USC.

Back in the day my friends and I would have put WrestleMania tickets at the top of our Christmas wish list. Back then we would typically find ourselves at my buddy, Jason's house taking in the pay-per-view events. We had fun with it and even though we kinda knew it was predetermined, we still sat nervously when the ref would get to the two count on the Hulkster.
Times are different now. We are older and different things have taken the place of where and what wrestling used to be to us.
I say that to say this...WrestleMania 23 is in Orlando and we can now all gets tickets on our own. Not a Christmas wish list, not even a wish list. We can get them, but more than likely we won't. Part of me wants to just buy them to be there. I can't name one wrestler out there right now, but it's almost just about the event nowadays.
Stay tuned...this older kid may still go, although thinking of fighting traffic and all the people is a little stressful (Am I that old...hahah).
Hulkamania Rules Brother!!! Not sure if that's still relevant...hahah.
You've got to watch the whole video. He impersonates Charles, Bill Walton, Marv Albert to name a few:-)
We are not all created equal. Adrian Wilson makes his money playing safety for the NFL's Arizona Cardinals. For fun (really part of his workout) he jumps over things. The video below shows Adrian (6'3" 230 pounds) jumping over 66 inches up! WOW!
There is pretty much no reason to watch Miami now:-(

Gilbert Arenas is quickly becoming a fan favorite throughout the sporting world and gaming world. Apparently he has also made a few gamer enemies as people are reporting that he is cheating at Halo 3. Hahahah, this dude is so funny to me.
On a side note...I was disappointed to find out that G.A. doesn't write his own blog. The same blog I have given my BLOG MVP is written by some other dude. G.A. just phones it all in. That's without a doubt the rich man's way of doing things. I'm not saying I would do it differently if I were him, but it just seemed funnier to me that he was actually taking all that time to write those stories.

Gilbert Arenas' blog is my favorite read by far. Read on and enjoy!
Does anyone care anymore?
Gilbert Arenas' blog is the best sports blog I've come across. Below is a section of his lastest post on shark attacks. Funny stuff! Go check out Gilbert's Blog!
There Are No Such Thing as Shark Attacks
I know this is random, but I just want to clear this up for people out there.
There are these things called shark attacks, but there is no such thing as a shark attack. I have never seen a real shark attack.
I know you’re making a weird face as you’re reading this. OK people, a shark attack is not what we see on TV and what people portray it as.
We’re humans. We live on land.
Sharks live in water.
So if you’re swimming in the water and a shark bites you, that’s called trespassing. That is called trespassing. That is not a shark attack.
A shark attack is if you’re chilling at home, sitting on your couch, and a shark comes in and bites you; now that’s a shark attack. Now, if you’re chilling in the water, that is called invasion of space. So I have never heard of a shark attack.
When I see on the news where it’s like, “There have been 10 shark attacks,” I’m like, “Hey, for real?! They’re just running around? Sharks are walking now, huh! We live on the land, we don’t live underwater.”
This is one of the coolest things I've seen. You've got to watch Tyson jump on the board and go! Oh yeah, Tyson is a bulldog:-)

This is AWESOME! I'll put my $50 to the side right now. I'm watching this fight!
