Operation Orlando: Visiting Orlando (World Vision)

So I got word that I can visit Orlando, the child I sponsor through World Vision, in Peru. I'm more than excited about the opportunity honestly. I would love to visit sometime this year and do my best to help him and his familyin anyway that I can. I still need to clear the details through World Vision, but I would really love to be able to provide something that is crucial to them taking the next step out of poverty. Maybe I'm just an optimist that lives in a sheltered World.

Nevertheless, I will continue to check into this. Step one, I go to Peru. Step two, Orlando comes to the United States. Step three, impact is made..change is made.

Nothing happens if you can't see the dream coming true.

More updates to come. If you're interested in coming and helping (build shelter, plumbing, etc) leave a comment and let me know. Extra credit goes to you if you speak Spanish. My four years of espanol eludes my memory:-)

I'll keep you in the loop with the information I find. Peace!

Remember, you too can sponsor a child for as little as $1 a day.

Break out the cigars. I'm a Dad!!!:-)

My first $30 to Orlando:-)

So I saw where my first $30 went to Orlando! Pretty cool! Yeah, only $30...you can donate too and help a kid who has less than the things you'd throw away. A dollar a day...sign up at World Vision!

Peace!

Orlando: Update

So I got the packet in the mail from World Vision last night. It told me a little bit more about Orlando, but was more about how to write/email him and the gifts I can send. It did include a magnet to put on the fridge, which is cool.

A trip to Peru in the coming years is looking like a sure thing.

Peace!

Meet Orlando

1709513903

Today I began sponsoring a child through World Vision. His name is Orlando and below is some information on him and his family who live in Peru. I will keep you updated on Orlando as I get more information:-) You can help too. Go to World Vision and make a donation or sponsor a child.

"Orlando lives with his parents, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters. His parents struggle to provide for the family. His father is an agriculture worker and his mother is self employed. Despite their efforts, it is difficult to meet the family's needs.

Orlando is growing up in a poor community in the Latin American country of Peru. A typical family home is constructed of adobe bricks. Potatoes, noodles, bread and milk are staples of the local diet. It is mostly warm and dry in this region, with the rainy season from December to February. The community is built in a valley where the land is good for farming.

Orlando is in primary school and he enjoys mathematics. He helps at home by carrying water. He likes to play with toy cars. He is in satisfactory health."
